Hot Creek

We gave the girls a choice of staying and playing

or going exploring - and they both chose exploring.

So off we went to the Hot Creek geological site

that Pop and I liked so much on our last trip.

I figured if nothing else,

the girls would like the intense blue of the pools.

But they enjoyed it all -

the hike down to the river,

the steaming water,

finding tadpoles in the river

and even the hike back up and out of the canyon.

Jac made the round trip hike on her own steam,

without complaint;

she really likes using that hiking stick.

We took the scenic loop back to town

and found a nice snowy hill,

so while Jac napped - that hike wore her out! -

Leanne got a few more fun runs on the sled.

At noon, it was a tad more than 50° at Hot Creek, about 15 minutes from town. Less than two hours later, we had big, fluffy snow flakes swirling outside our windows. Nothing much was sticking but if it keeps up, getting out of town tomorrow could get interesting.
