Halloweeeeeeeeen!

I love Halloween, second only to Christmas as a favorite holiday. It’s not as much fun without the littles to go trick or treating with, but I still have costume pics!

Leia was Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony.

Mary made the entire costume from thrift store finds, including spray painting the boots. So cool!

Donovan and his mom had a Star Wars theme going. (See top right photo below.) I asked Leia what her dad dressed up as… “just grumpy old dad.” 😂

Leo was Ruby Gloom, from an animated TV series, 

complete with Iddy the cat dressed up as her companion.

Leo even got a bubble backpack so Iddy could go trick or treating with them. Iddy is one patient kitty - she liked the bubble and will willingly get in her carrier so she can go in the car with Leo. 

Jaclyn was a werewolf princess, practicing her howling ⬆️

 Indoor trick or treating. Leo won a prize - $20 gift card - for her costume. Whoooo!

Gary, Cheyenne and Gary’s high school buddy, Rob, came by to show off their costumes (actually they came to raid our trick or treating candy. Surprise! We didn’t get any this year, for about the first time ever.)

Gary said they are going to a costume party tomorrow night but dressed up tonight to give out candy (16 bags!!) at their new house. Happy Spooky Day, y’all! 🎃🎃

Trick or Treat

Jac came home sick from school at noon and I thought trick-or-treating was dooooomed

Leo’s pumpkin

but fed her a sandwich (to counteract all the sugar she ate this morning 🙄) 

and it looks like she’s good to go again. Hooray!

Jac asked to be a wolf princess this year and Leo is a character from the game Call of Duty. 

Donovan is a skeleton and really loves this costume (I want his shoes…)

Matt and Mary always go big (literally) with decorations.

Jac’s little white pumpkin is now a brown unicorn. 

So artistic!

Leo used a picture as a guide but did all the carving herself. 

It’s amazing!

Pumpkin Bash

We’d planned to take “studio” pictures of the grands in costume today, but…

Since I was determined to get Halloween pix,  

Plan B became a trip to the local pumpkin patch, 

which I’m sure the kids enjoyed more anyway.

The pumpkins were *very* picked over 

but there was something to please everyone, 

although Donovan had to pick up a couple before he found one to his liking…

and was not thrilled when his hand landed in the pumpkin guts spilling out the bottom of this one. 😜

Leo was the only one to get a big traditional orange jack o’lantern.

”Look, GramGram - if you hold it this way ⬆️ it’s a butt and if you hold it this ⬇️ way it’s a baby!”

Jac tried out a few that were small or fancy 

before settling on this all white one that cradled well in her arms.

The biggest surprise though? Donovan spotted this little striped cutie and his search was immediately over.

I love how different their choices are. 

Donovan discovered he loves Dr. Pepper, especially when it belongs to Sissy…

Happy Halloween!

Halloweeeeeeen!

We’re a bit behind with decorating this year - 

too much other stuff going on -

but Jaclyn begged Pop to let her help put up the Halloween stuff.

So while I made a sweet reward (German pancakes are always a winner)

the two of them got the inside decorated Friday 

and the outside done today,

including 2 (3?) trips to the hardware store. 

It’s starting to feel trick-or-treatish!

Bats R Us

Batman, Batgirl, a game character and a typical teenager - we are ready for Halloween!

Jac and Donovan had a lot of fun showing off their super hero moves.

Treat Bags

 Auntie Teena cemented her status as a kid favorite

when she sent (beautiful!) vinyl Halloween bags 

Jac’s frowny face is because she forgot her sunglasses

full of sweet treats to the baby grands. They were thrilled!

Candy Corn

Finally! A good use for candy corn. 😂

We were in Lowe’s last night to look at carpet samples when I spotted this guy. Loved him but it looked all sold out. Searched the ‘net once we were home and found it at another local Lowe’s ON SALE. Whoohoo!

Helping Pop read the directions 

Pop got him put together and tied down before the kids got out of school. He’s a big hit!

Now he needs a name… maybe Puffy? We’ll see what ideas Jac and Leo come up with tomorrow.
