Cruising

We made it through the long line at the port  - 

and despite on-going problems with Cunard’s new check-in software/equipment 

(our agent went thru 3 hand-held scanners trying to get us checked in)

we were on-board and having lunch within 2 hours. 

One of hubby’s suitcases got caught in Purser jail -

apparently hand-held clothing steamers are forbidden now, 

even though we’ve taken this one on two other Cunard cruises -

but that was our only source of swearing snafu. 

By the time QE got underway at 7 pm, 

 USS Iowa

we were all on deck, 


libations in hand, 

ready for a bon voyage. 

Days 1 and 2 have been lazy, relaxing “at-sea” days.

We’ve reacquainted ourselves with QE, 

Commodore Club, our fav afternoon hangout 

read, napped, eaten and generally enjoyed ourselves.

One “gala” night is done, 

 UFO sighting off our balcony!

with two more happening before we reach Ft. Lauderdale.

We’re in Cabo tomorrow, then back at sea, headed for Costa Rica. See y’all soon!

Lazy Turkey Day

Today’s our last day in Colorado and it was a perfect blend of family, food, movies and projects.

Rachel is working on a new Christmas cross-stitch,

I finished a Sashiko project (the first hand-stitching I’ve done in 6 months, thanks to tendinitis),

Addy made rolls

and more yummy rolls (3 batches total),

and this airman was able to call her mom for the first time since boot camp started 6 weeks ago. So proud of her. 

Movie-wise, Cruella is excellent; Black Widow is just as good the 3rd (4th?) time through; and the first 2 episodes of Hawkeye are well worth watching but left us wondering where the show is going. Guess we’ll find out in 4 more episodes.  Hope all y’all had an excellent turkey day too!

Sistering

We had grand plans for today, but Leanne got a stomach bug so Pop stayed home with her while Teena and I shopped for fabric at SuperBuzzy,

 I bought fabrics 1 and 3 for next Monday’s bag class 

and had a fantastic lunch that included New Orleans-style beignets. Yummmmmm.

I *may* have talked Teena into upgrading her iPhone 5 to an 11 Pro Max . . . (It’s so pretty! Plus, she’s going to Europe in May and needs the Pro’s great camera.) 

And tonight I taught her Sashiko. Tomorrow is Road to California- including a 3 hour round-trip drive (if we’re lucky and the traffic gods cooperate) - so we’re off to bed early. Gotta have energy for all those vendors! 

Crafty Sunday

A visit to Colorado means lots of crafting with Addy and her mama. 

Addy wasn’t sure what she wanted to make this week but we finally settled on slime (almost a disaster until Rachel salvaged it with a little Borax and hot water);

cross-stitching following a chart - a first for Addy;

and Sashiko on both quilt blocks (Rachel) and denim skirts and jackets (Addy).

So happy these two like crafting and fiber crafts as much as I do!

This isn’t what I’m making (yet . . .) 

but it is inspiration to keep me practicing and learning more Sashiko.
