Quilts and Cars

Spent the day with friends at a (mostly) outdoor quilt

and vintage car show

put on by a local quilt guild at homes in Ventura, Camarillo and Oxnard.

There were lots of people coming and going

but everyone kept moving

so there were only a few people at a time at any one venue.

It all felt so … normal.

Maybe there’s hope for a return to normal-ish times?

Kudus to the Camarillo Quilt Association for a great show.

Could She Wait?

Could she wait for the rest of the QAL group?

No. No, she could not.

One done, three* to go. These are fun!

* I’ll probably change the order of the cool colors on the next ones. Pink and purple need to be together.

Date Night

Went to dinner in Hollywood and then to see Tootsie at the Dolby.

Going to places in LA is funny - you either get there 3 hours early or 30 minutes late. Totally depends on the freeway gods - who were kind to us this trip - and what else is happening nearby - like tonight’s big event at the Hollywood Bowl with LOTS of traffic and blocked streets.

I’m always surprised how small the Dolby is - it looks so much bigger on 📺 - and how utilitarian. Give me the glory of the Pantages any day.

It was very nice to go out. Unfortunately, Tootsie wasn’t very good. The voices, especially Juliet’s,  were aMAYzing but not enough to save it. We, and others, left at intermission.

Shimmer and Shine

The idea when I signed on for this FPP project -

one of my four(!) current quilt/sew-alongs

was to learn the pattern,

make one block and maybe turn it into a pillow or mini quilt.

But the kit fabric was so pretty . . . and the pattern was so fun . . .

and there was so much fabric leftover after just one . . .

that I *might* have made three more tonight.

My new plan is to make a wall-hanging with four rainbow blocks,

each with a different fabric value placement (lights, mediums and darks) so I can see what I like best.

A half block = 4 quadrants, each with 3 fabrics (light, medium, dark) and a background fabric.

 Helpful

Next week we’re scheduled to do the cool colors, then sew everything together the following week.

Still helping

Any bets on whether I can wait that long??

Take My Picture!

Take my picture, Granma! Somebody had a case of the sillies, waiting for Jackie to get home from school.

He’s 4!

Donovan officially turned 4 on the 16th,

but since that was Easter weekend,

his Super Hero super party was put off a week until this Saturday.

 Leanne and Jaclyn

He’s been beyond excited all week

but I’m not sure if it was for the bounce house,

his friends,

the awesome custom-made birthday cookies,

the piñata,

or maybe the presents.

If he was older, I’d say the presents were his fav part,

but he really was more interested in

running and playing with his pals (and the cookies. The cookies were awesome.)

Happy birthday, big boy!

Together Again

These two haven’t seen each other in almost two weeks.

Every day, Jac would say, “I wish Donavee was here” and apparently Donovan did the same, asking for Jac.

So, while they both love painting -

especially with new neon paints and wide brushes -

and any excuse to be up on the ping pong table,

they really wanted to just hang out,

eat cookie crackers

and PLAY.

Ok. We can do that.
