Quebec, Day 2
We finally made it to the hop on, hop off bus and it was . . . disappointing. And freezing.
We saw a wide area of Quebec City
but the narration,
which we look forward to hearing so we can learn some history of an area, was seriously lacking.
There was more generic filler music than information
(one of the tunes was the same one Missouri Star Quilt Co uses for their YouTube videos. That was disconcerting.)
None of the areas we saw were prettier, more interesting or more historical than where our hotel is located. We lucked out!
View from the bus
After lunch, we walked up restaurant row
to view the arch that is part of the original "wall" of the walled city.
We saw part of the wall on the bus tour - very briefly, as we flashed past -
so it was nice to see a section up close and personal.
Traffic routinely drives through the arch, but there are parks and open area on three of the four sides. It was definitely worth the walk.
There was one last area I wanted to check out before we boarded our ship.
Rather than turning left off our street toward restaurant row, we continued straight for a block, passing a beautiful park,
the US Consul General’s office from 1834-2009 (175 years!) all spiffed up for fall,
and wound up looking down onto the Governor’s Promenade, with Queen Mary 2 in her berth, patiently waiting for us.
Now we just need to find a couple or three taxis
to get all this aboard ship.
(Only 4 belonged to me and hubby. 😜)
