Quebec, Day 1

We’d planned to do the hop-on, hop-off bus today

Street in front of our hotel

but we ended up walking around the area,

admiring the architecture,

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac (hotel) using the
ultra wide angle lens on my new phone

and seeing the sights.

We walked the length of the Governor’s Promenade,

built in 1958 to celebrate Quebec’s 350th birthday,

stopping for lots

and lots of pictures.

Then it was down the funicular

 Riding down
(and back up too!)

to an area of buildings from the 1820’s

filled with pretty shops and restaurants.

The surprise of the day was how close we are to our ship’s berth.

When I booked the hotel, I thought we’d be within a few miles of the passenger ship docks. I was wrong.

Look one direction to see the Queen Mary 2, then turn around . . .

to see the Chateau on the hill

It’s basically at the end of our street (and down a few hundred feet).

The street leading from restaurant row to our hotel

Tomorrow is the hop-on bus in the morning - honest! we have tickets! - then we check-in for our first night onboard ship. Saturday we’re still in Quebec before we sail for Saguenay on Sunday.

 Dinner serenade

Stay tuned!
