Skunk Train

We didn’t realize when we bought tickets

that the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg was over an hour drive in each direction

on twisty, bendy, narrow mountain roads.

Totally worth it! (Says she who didn’t have to do the driving…)

The train ride into the redwoods was shorter than when we first went in 2010,

and the bbq lunch at the halfway point -

that we were looking forward to - is no more,

but it was still a great day, especially for the kids.

The high points for them? Shopping the gift store (Jac now has a skunk named Smiley)

and the popcorn buckets in the train’s concession car that came with a FREE REFILL.

Jac made it halfway

through the mile-ish uphill loop into the redwoods

before deciding we should turn around and go back,

but Leo, Travis and Isaac finished the trek

and had a great time.

Next up? Real, live giraffes! No joking.
