Giraffe Day
Spotted a listing for B Bryan Preserve (here) on TripAdvisor after we arrived in Pt Arena.
None of us had ever heard of it but what the heck, the reviews were good so maybe we should give it a try?
It. Was. So. Awesome. They specialize in raising and supporting endangered African hoof stock,
especially the three species of zebra and Northern Giraffes.
The main tour guide was very good and obviously enjoyed her job.
We learned so much and she made it interesting to all the age groups. Of course, the main attraction was the group of four 13-year old bachelor giraffeswho love to be fed lettuce,
and, as Leo found out, are willing to snatch it from you if you don’t offer it up fast enough.
So funny! We spent a solid 2 hours there and - a miracle with the littles and teens -
no one was bored or anxious to leave.
Highly recommend taking the tour - or staying in the onsite lodging.
Breakfast with giraffes, anyone?
