Birthday Dinner

We celebrated Matthew’s birthday a day early with dinner at O-Sabi’s, our favorite Teppan-style Japanese restaurant.

Little boy slept through the preliminaries, but this - 

 The Lighting of the Onion Ceremony

woke him up fast (and unhappy).

Once he figured out his favorite people were still there, 

and willing to entertain him, 

he started smiling again.

One of the things we like about O-Sabi’s is the table-side show. In addition to flaming grills, the chef tosses food at various diners, who are supposed to catch it with their mouth. Matt . . . missed. Mary . . . missed. Pop . . . missed. Leia . . . caught it! Winner, winner!
