Charlie Bison

Jac is big into animals, animal facts and non-fiction animal books so a lot of our CO trip was planned around that.

For today’s adventure, we headed to the Terry Bison Ranch, about 50 minutes from Rachel’s house in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

We’ve been here before, with Addy in 2018 (here), and the highlight of the trip

 - then and now -

was the sloooooooowww train ride to the pastures to feed the bison.

Charlie was the main man this time - the biggest bull in this small group - and the one hogging the doorway and the majority of treats.

Jac gave Charlie one treat before deciding he was waaaaaay too close (see red arrow…)

and opting to move back a row

and throw treats

through the open window

to the rest of the herd.

We also saw two new babies (one just a few days old) and their moms

a little ways off from the main group.

Jac liked the bison but she loved the free range cats, especially this orange cutie and another jet black kitty, that let her get close enough to pet them.

She also liked - from a distance - the free roaming, very noisy peacocks (and one peahen).

What do you do with lots and lots of old horseshoes…

Tomorrow we’re (probably) having lunch in old town Fort Collins and going to the nearby kids discovery museum.

Haven’t been there since the pre-covid years but Leia and Leo both loved it when they were Jac’s age.

 My favorite of the sculptures

Wednesday is Estes Park and rock hunting for Jac,

Recycling at its finest

Thursday is the Wildlife Sanctuary in Keenesburg (here), Friday is antique shopping and Saturday we head home.
