Alesund, Norway - Monday 9/30

Took the hop-on/off bus tour of the 7 islands that make up Alesund, the fishing capital of Norway.

Alesund harbor

We planned to hop off at a couple of sites,

 View from Mt Aksla

but it was raining (first time on this trip!)

 WWII bunker…

and most places closed at 4,

… in park atop Mt Aksla

so we did the loop and headed back.

Beautiful buildings -

the entire downtown burned to the ground in 1904

and was rebuilt in colorful Art Deco style -

 Statue “The Wanderer”

and gorgeous scenery.

 Chilly (52°-ish) and wet day

We have 2 more days in Norway

before heading to Amsterdam.

Sunday night dinner in Hudson’s,

the main complimentary dining room. (Complimentary = included in our fare. Specialty = pay extra.)

 Narrow streets

Loved this building - check out the windows

Church of Norway. Norway has freedom of religion, except for the King who must profess Church of Norway.

View across the harbor, from the side opposite our room
