Kids and Quilts

Today was a teacher in-service, no school for kids, let’s party at grandma’s house day.

Jac’s very proud of her “blue diamond”

Jac and Donovan spent most of their time playing “Minecraft diamond making station” (as they told me in unison when I asked … 😂), a made-up live-action long-running game, utilizing playdoh and action figures and Jackie’s version of official Minecraft rules. (“You can’t do that Donovan/Grandma, it’s not in the rules.”)

It was hilarious listening to them. Jac plays Minecraft occasionally on an iPad but she usually doesn’t know much about what’s going on. Hearing her explain to Donovan that “their server was down” as the reason his action figures were losing some part of their game was a riot. And no, she doesn’t have any idea what a “server” is… (“Grandma, it’s a Minecraft thing. You wouldn’t understand.”)

Since they were hogging my cutting table, it’s a good thing I finished the baby quilt last night. Leo again served as quilt holder but the wind was so strong we ended up taking fast pictures of it on the ground before it tried to fly away …

Quarter-square-triangles frame is Tula Pink’s True Colors

Even Ursula had trouble keeping her skirts down.

The backing is one of my favorite kid prints. So colorful and fun.

These flowers are the backing for yesterday’s quilt, something I found on the sale rack at Roxanne’s and had.to.have. Love how saturated the colors are. (Maybe it’s my inner 70’s flower child showing through??)

Both are off to the long-armer tomorrow. Can’t wait to see them finished.
