Colorado

Yesterday was a long, long day. We got up at 4 AM so we could catch a 7 AM flight from Burbank. Burbank airport is so much easier than LAX - smaller, more relaxed, and a shorter drive. We got a little sleep on the plane; the flight was uneventful, unlike last time when I had an unexpected layover in Vegas due to weather.

We arrived in Denver 10 minutes early, but ended up sitting on the runway for 15 minutes while we waited for a gate to open up. Everything was backed up because of the . . . . . . snow! The weather reports we saw said it was supposed to be in the 50's. Wrong. By the time we picked up our PT Cruiser from Enterprise, it was snowing fairly heavily. Nothing was sticking to the ground, which was a very good thing for our fair-weather driving skills.

We stopped for a few minutes to see Addy and her parents, then finished the drive to Estes Park and our cabin for the week. Gary loves it here - he claimed the downstairs bedroom - the one with it's own TV. We were just as happy to take the one upstairs. Both have their own bathroom and the same size bed, so it really didn't make much difference. Today we got up late - after 13 hours of sleep to make up for yesterday - had lunch, then drove around Estes Park and into the Rocky Mountain National Park. This has to be one of the top 5 most beautiful places on earth. Gary and Dick got into a snowball fight, with me snapping pics and trying to stay out of the line of fire. Gary had already gotten me earlier in the day. He thought it was hilarious. Just wait, payback is coming . . . . . Here's a typical teenager pose - Gary loved the national park, but he loved that he had cell phone reception even more.

We've got Addy watch tomorrow. Stand by for LOTS of photos!
